UPDATE: Russell Gage has been cleared to return after halftime. That’s some tremendous news for the Falcons!

The Falcons have been struggling thus far against the Lions, as the game remains 0-0 early in the first quarter. Unfortunately, the injury hits just keep coming for the Falcons in Detroit. After C Alex Mack briefly left the game—and returned, thankfully—WR Russell Gage appeared to be writhing in pain on the turf after attempting to bring in a catch on second down. Gage was unable to walk off the field himself, and was helped off by a pair of trainers.

Gage is the Falcons WR3 and a major part of the passing offense. His loss will be a significant one if he’s unable to return to play. Next up in the rotation will be former UDFA WR Olamide Zaccheaus, WR Christian Blake, and WR Brandon Powell. We’ll hope for the best with Gage, as the injury looked particularly bad on the broadcast.

UPDATE: Russell Gage is officially QUESTIONABLE to return with a knee injury, per the Falcons.

UPDATE: It appears that Gage was able to get up and walk on his own a bit before heading to the locker room. We’ll hope the injury is less serious than it initially appeared.
