The Falcons are moving slowly down the field against the Lions on their first offensive drive of the game, but the bad news has arrived extra early in Week 7. Alex Mack is injured and was down on the turf for a long time. Fortunately, it looked worse than it was or Mack is incredibly tough (or both), because he’s already back out there.
Mack has been a fixture on this offensive line since arriving in free agency back in 2016, and remains a dependable center for this offense even as he gets up there in years. It goes without saying that he’s a player who deserves to finish out what might be his final year in Atlanta with some great games, which makes this injury even more devastating.
Alex Mack down on the turf and getting checked out by trainers. Huge part of this offense. Matt Hennessy coming in at center.

We’ll update you as soon as we have more news on Mack’s status. Rookie Matt Hennessy, the heir apparent at the center position, is in and will play the position as long as Mack is out.
Fortunately, he was not out very long, as he’s back in the game to start the team’s second drive.
