Having secured their very first win of the 2020 season, the Falcons now need to show they have more than one good game in them the rest of the way. They’re steering into what looks like the easiest part of the schedule, with a home game against the Lions, away game against a Panthers team they should be able to hang with, and a home game against a pretty hapless Broncos squad looming. If they can’t get a couple of wins here, it likely means they’re cruising for one of their worst records of the last couple of decades.
We start with the Lions, a talented team that also seems to be held down by a few truck-sized holes and some questionable coaching. They’re not great in any one facet this year and are an especially poor run defense, opening opportunities for the Falcons to put together another barn burner on offense if they’re able and willing. Hopefully, that’s enough to carry them to victory.
Here’s what you’ll need to know for the game ahead.
Atlanta Falcons vs. Detroit Lions, Week 7
When: Sunday, October 25, 1:00 p.m. EST
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
Channel: FOX
Announcers: Chris Myers, Brock Huard, Greg Jennings, Jen Hale
Streaming: FOXSportsGo
Radio: 92.9 The Game
Key Questions: The biggest one by far is this: Was that an unsustainable effort, fueled by the Falcons getting several turnovers and making key stops they haven’t made in the past, or a sign of things to come for this team? Will they be healthy enough to keep the offense humming? And can Todd Gurley and Brian Hill take advantage of a weak Lions run defense like they did against Carolina?
Prediction: This is a winnable game and I loved what we saw against the Vikings, so I’m going to foolishly say the Falcons can win a close one here. Falcons 30 - Lions 27
