Matt Ryan has won a lot of awards in a career that has now spanned parts of three decades, but another NFC Offensive Player of the Week award is always welcome. Fortunately, he can put that tiny trophy (I assume it’s a trophy?) on his buckling mantle next to his MVP and other awards, because he just received his latest NFC Offensive Player of the Week win this week after picking apart the Minnesota Vikings.
Ryan had his best game in weeks—arguably his best game this year—while going 30 for 40 for 371 yards, 4 touchdowns, and no interceptions. It included a magnificent play by Julio Jones that Ryan kept alive with some nifty footwork, one that will linger in my memory long after Week 6 is a distant memory.
This is Ryan’s 9th NFC Offensive Player of the Week award in his career, by far the most of any Falcon in team history, and his first since the very end of the 2016 season. We’ll hope he’s got a few more left in the tank for the Falcons in the weeks, months, and maybe years to come.
