The Falcons return home this weekend to take on the 2-3 Lions. The Lions have one of the league’s best ground games and they can get to .500 with a win over the 5-1 Falcons. That said, the Falcons showed us last weekend that they can resemble a competent football team under the right circumstances. So it’s anyone’s guess which team will walk away from Sunday’s game victorious.
Let’s take a quick look at what the odds makers are saying about Sunday’s matchup.
As of Tuesday night, Draftkings Sportsbook had the Falcons tabbed as 2.5 point favorites. They have the over/under at 56.5 in anticipation of a shootout between two high powered offenses facing off against two defenses that have struggled mightily this season. The Falcons have less to play for and their head coach was already shown the door. Lions head coach Matt Patricia’s seat is quite hot, so we should expect them to pull out all the stops.
For what it’s worth, the Falcons are 2-4 against the spread this year. And what’s more, they are 0-3 against the spread at home. Detroit, on the other hand, is 4-12 against the spread over their last 16 games and 0-5 against the spread over their last 5 games against Atlanta.
