Falcons corner back A.J. Terrell nominated for Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week

Fact: A.J. Terrell’s toenails clip themselves

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings Nick Wosika-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons got some definite side eye when the decided to use the 16th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on cornerback A.J. Terrell. They desperately needed a CB1 after deciding to move on from Desmond Trufant in mid-March.

Terrell looks to be the real deal so far, and with any luck, he’ll anchor the Falcons secondary for years to come. During Sunday’s win over the Vikings, Terrell nabbed his first career interception. It was an athletic play that showcased the skill set that got the Falcons’ attention in the lead up to the draft.

This morning we learned that A.J. is getting some love for his standout performance, earning a nomination for Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Week for Week 6.

Terrell’s competition for rookie of the week is stiff. He’s facing off against Clyde Edwards-Helaire (161 rushing yards), D’Andre Swift (116 rushing yards and 2 TDs), Justin Jefferson (166 receiving yards and 2 TDs), and Tae Crowder (43-yard fumble return for a touchdown), but it’s still nice to see him get a little bit of recognition outside of our Falcons bubble.

Show A.J. a little love by voting for him here! Or don’t, if you’re a cotton-headed ninnymuggins and/or a secret Saints fan.
