The Atlanta Falcons envisioned great things for Calvin Ridley when they selected him with the 26th overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the second receiver taken in that draft class and was the most polished route runner among his peers.
Ridley’s stellar skills led to 19 receiving touchdowns in 44 career games at the University of Alabama, ranking him fifth in school history in that statistical category. The Falcons knew that #18 had a nose for the end zone, but nobody expected it to be as strong as it has been thus far in his young NFL career.

As the tweet indicates, Ridley scored his fifth receiving touchdown of the season thus far, in Week 6 against the Vikings. What’s more is that this was the 22nd receiving touchdown of Ridley’s career, which ties him with Andre Rison for most by a Falcon in his first three seasons.

Ridley should destroy this record by season’s end, as we aren’t even at the halfway point of his third season in the league.
Rison reached 22 touchdowns in 48 full games played in his first three years. Ridley has reached 22 scores in 35 career games played thus far. It should be noted, however, that Julio Jones also would have likely blown past Rison’s mark if not for his season ending foot injury in his third year — his 20 scores came in his first 34 career games.
Ridley will look to continue re-writing chapters in Atlanta’s record books as his career moves along.
