It is game day as the 0-5 Falcons face off against the 1-4 Vikings in a battle for slight relevancy. The Falcons have obviously had a busy week — Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff were fired among multiple COVID issues — and need to show something that we have not seen under Dan Quinn.
While new head coach Raheem Morris is unlikely to “interim” from his official job title next season, we can start seeing what we actually have on the roster. That starts with players like Deadrin Senat, a third-round tackle who has become known mostly for being inactive.
For the Falcons, only the following players are inactive:
- Takkarist McKinley
- Jordan Miller
- Qadree Ollison
- Jaylinn Hawkins
- John Wetzel
McKinley is becoming known mostly for being injured, with this being his second stint dealing with a nagging injury. At some point Miller has to start getting some reps if Isaiah Oliver continues to struggle against any and every wide receiver. Ollison is buried on the depth chart and seems incapable of cracking through. Hawkins is still recovering from a concussion and was expected to miss Sunday’s game. Wetzel needs an injury to crack into playing.
For the Vikings, the following players are inactive:
- K.J. Osborn
- Holton Hill
- Kris Boyd
- Dalvin Cook
- Dru Samia
Cook obviously headlines these inactives. Expect Alexander Mattison to have a career day running the ball against this presumably-still-bad defense.
