The Falcons are gearing up to take on the similarly hapless Vikings on Sunday, and we’ve got all the news, notes, and narratives ahead of that one in today’s Falcoholinks.
Falcons - Vikings on deck
The Falcons are 0-5 for the first time since 1997, and in the middle of a season in upheaval with front office and coaching changes that came swift after Atlanta’s loss against Carolina. They carry that abysmal record into Minnesota to face the equally awful Vikings.
This is a clash between two teams who have exactly one win between them, and I imagine the networks played rock-paper-scissors to see who would be forced to air this one. The Falcons enter as 3.5 point underdogs, but who really knows with both of these football teams being so terrible.
Seven players, including Julio Jones, either did not participate or were held out of Wednesday’s practice, so it’s looking like the Falcons will again be thin at personnel as they head into Sunday.
So even though we’re rage-watching at this point, at least we’ll always have the memory of Morten Andersen.
The search for the new HC
2021 will be a year of new faces for the Atlanta Falcons, most notably the individual coaching the squad. Guaranteed to be one of — if not the — top option on the market, Chiefs OC Eric Bienemy has to be on the Falcons’ shortlist, and if you look at what he’s been able to accomplish in Kansas City, it’s hard not to get excited about the prospect of Atlanta bringing him in.
