Dan Quinn is on the way out. That’s the Falcoholinks.

DAN QUINN ON THE WAY OUT

We were wondering if Arthur Blank would fire Atlanta’s head coach mid-season, and now we have our answer. After their worst start since 1997, Quinn is reportedly out as the HC of the Atlanta Falcons.

There will obviously be much, much more on this development this week, but it almost seemed like a certainty with the Falcons moving to 0-5.

Falcons - Panthers recap

This team is awful, and while their opening drive on offense looked great — they tend to play the Panthers really well — that was the high water mark in Atlanta’s performance on Sunday. From that point forward it was more of the same that we’ve come to expect as the Falcons limped to a 23-16 loss to the Panthers, and there could be coaching changes forthcoming.

This is the first 0-5 start for the Atlanta Falcons since 1997. The Teletubbies premiered that year.

On a positive note: Todd Gurley got hot early, blasting through Carolina’s defense for a 35-yard rushing touchdown on Atlanta’s opening drive. He had his first 100-yard rushing game since 2018, and looked every bit of the back the Falcons expected when they signed him.

It was for naught, however, because this is the 2020 Atlanta Falcons we’re talking about.

Injuries

The Falcons got defensive end Takkarist McKinley back to start this one, but he unfortunately left with a groin injury and would not return. Cornerback Kendall Sheffield picked up an ankle injury in the first half and was questionable to return, but was thankfully able to hit the field in the second half.

I could give you a description, but I’m sure you already know. Kevin Knight & Co. aired their grievances on the The Falcoholic Live Post-game show, and if you didn’t happen to catch it as it happened, you can watch the full episode right here.
