If the Atlanta Falcons were going to be successful against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, it would require a solid run game. The Panthers currently have one of the better secondaries in the NFL, while also having a not-so-great run defense.
Falcons’ running back Todd Gurley certainly took advantage of that early as he recorded two carries for 19 yards before breaking off for a 35-yard touchdown, which you can see in the video below.

The Falcons have struggled to get Gurley going so far this season. The former Los Angeles Rams’ star returned home to Georgia this offseason with big hopes of helping Atlanta’s run game get back on track.
Prior to the Panthers game, Gurley had four touchdowns throughout four games, and has added another against Carolina. We’ll see throughout the rest of the game how Gurley is involved, as he made a brilliant one-handed catch early on the team’s first drive and appears to be getting the quality blocking he needs to make plays like this happen.
