Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Wednesday, Jan. 8

Fact: Deion Jones puts peanut butter on his spaghetti

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Happy Hump Day, Falcoholics. The week is approximately halfway done! How many times have you visited the gym this week? Far less than you’d hoped? That’s okay, we don’t mind, because here at The Falcoholic, we like you just the way you are.

Our brand of links is rooted in a proud tradition of shenanigans and tomfoolery.

Oh, Dirk

Like it or not, Dirk Koetter will be the Falcons’ offensive coordinator in 2020. (For the record, I don’t like it. Not. One. Bit.) It’s time we learn to deal with it, because he isn’t going anywhere.

The Panthers have a new head coach and the Falcons don’t

The Panthers are apparently ready to hire Ron Rivera’s replacement. Matt Rhule, the current head coach at Baylor, will try to fill Ron Rivera’s shoes, and with any luck, he’ll struggle mightily and rue the day he decided to leave Baylor.

Speaking of NFC South head coaches, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn may soon be the longest tenured HC in the NFC South. That means something ... kinda.

This and that

The Falcoholic himself asked readers to take reflect back on some of the best receivers in franchise history, specifically those that led the team in receiving for at least 5 years.

It’s the offseason, which means teams that aren’t in the playoffs are trying to improve the general state of their franchises, top to bottom, before the next league year. The Falcons are no exception. We learned on Monday that the Falcons recently interviewed an intriguing defensive coach for an assistant role of some sort.

We’re onto week 2 of the playoffs, which means the draft order has been updated.
