Takk McKinley fought through injuries throughout the season, finally succumbing to the point where he missed the final two games of the season with a shoulder ailment. Now it appears he’s undergoing surgery, presumably for his shoulder, though I can’t stress enough that we’re speculating here.
McKinley posted a photo to his Instagram story with the simple caption “Surgery time.” He followed up with a Tweet that confirmed it was successful shoulder surgery, which is great news.

Takk’s shoulder has been an issue for a while now, so I’m sure he’s elated to have this behind him.
McKinley will return as a starter in 2020, with the team’s decision on his fifth year option looming. While his sack numbers weren’t terrific in 2019, he was still one of the team’s better pass rushers, and is still plenty capable of turning into a great one in the years to come. Getting healthy ahead of the season will be priority #1, and getting McKinley and Grady Jarrett more help along the defensive line should be priority #1 for the Falcons ahead of September.
