Traditionally, we’ve asked you which player you’d like to steal off the opposing team in the week leading up to a matchup. This time out, we’re going to ask you to think a little harder and dig a little deeper and name the positional grouping you’d want to add, wholesale, at the expense of what the Falcons currently have.
So let’s talk about that for the Vikings. As great as this football team is and has the potential to be, there aren’t a ton of position groups that I’d be willing to swap out, which surprised me. You’re not gonna do it at quarterback, you might be tempted to do it at RB if you love Dalvin Cook, and as good as the receiver and tight end groups are, you’re not cashing out Austin Hooper, Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley for them.
That leaves defense, and even there you have to weigh some position groups carefully. The answer, when the dust settles, more or less has to be defensive end.
I’m high on Takk McKinley’s potential and Vic Beasley, Allen Bailey, and Adrian Clayborn could form a good group, but Danielle Hunter is coming off a 14.5 sack season and Everson Griffen a 5.5 sack season following a 13 sack season. They can both get after the quarterback, and they’re well-rounded players who would be genuinely formidable next to Grady Jarrett and the Falcons’ merry group of defensive tackles. Stephen Weatherly is a nice reserve, and Ifeadi Odenigbo and Tashawn Bower are both 25 or younger and have real upside. It’d be comfortable making that switch.
What group are you picking?
