Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Monday, Sept. 30

This team is extremely bad.

It was a very welcome homecoming for the Falcons after getting pummeled in Indy, but any positive feelings about yesterday’s game had evaporated before end of the first half.

The throwback uniforms were the only good thing about Atlanta’s performance against the Tennessee Titans, a loss that now puts them at a dreadful 1-3. There’s officially a four-alarm fire in the Atlanta Falcons franchise, and there are zero signs that it will be put out any time soon. Spew your anger and frustration in the comment section of today’s Falcoholinks.

Falcons - Titans recap

It actually takes effort for a team to look as bad as the Falcons did against Tennessee. Sucking out loud has been the lone consistency for the 2019 Atlanta Falcons, and that continued on Sunday. Listless, lifeless, seemingly unconcerned — they looked like a team that had given up.

Dan Quinn already hot seat is now searing like sheet metal left in the summer sun, and one has to consider the possibility that he does not make it through the season.

Julio hits 11,000

Regardless of how terrible this Atlanta Falcons team is, it still has the best wide receiver in the league on the roster: Julio Jones. He’s been very Julio this season, entering yesterday’s game with 265 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Jones hit a major milestone in the Falcons’ awful showing against the Titans, becoming the fastest player in NFL history to reach 11,000 receiving yards.

He accomplished this feat in 115 games, besting the previous mark of 127 set by Calvin Johnson.

Congratulations, Julio!

Jamon Brown concussed, Blidi Wreh-Wilson injured

The Falcons’ offensive line was already battling injury, and now there’s another name to add to the list: right guard Jamon Brown. Brown left the game in the first half with a head injury and was questionable to return.

It was announced shortly after that he was in the concussion protocol and was ruled out. Ito Smith was diagnosed with a concussion in last Sunday’s game and was able to play against Tennessee, so we’ll keep a keen eye on Jamon Brown’s progress as we move through the week.

Falcons cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson would also leave the contest early with a groin injury. The bug still has a taste for the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcoholic Live

Kevin Knight and Adnan Ikic, bless their hearts, actually had the mental strength to sit down and discuss this disaster immediately after Atlanta’s loss to Tennessee was final. If you didn’t have the heart to watch it live (and I don’t blame you), it’s available right here.
