The regular season is upon us. Those months we spent discussing free agents who came to Atlanta and those who did not, the kicker situation that proved to be a total red herring, and of course those five interminable preseason games are now all over. From now on, the games count, and we’ll find out whether the many steps the Falcons have taken to retool their roster and coaching staff will bear fruit.
Their first opponent is a fine test of their mettle. The Vikings have question marks, of course—how good is Kirk Cousins? Is their offensive line up to snuff? Are they strong enough in the secondary to keep great passing attacks in check?—but they’re a bonafide NFC contender with studs dotting the entire roster. Atlanta has to take them on in Minnesota, which means a win here would provide early proof that the Falcons are for real.
Let’s hope for the win, and here’s how you’ll be watching on Sunday.
