Falcons to bring punter Matt Wile to practice squad with Matt Bosher ailing

He’s a familiar face, and he might be in line for work on Sunday against the Colts if Bosher’s condition doesn’t improve.

Matt Bosher was active last week, but he clearly wasn’t feeling his best. The Falcons trotted him out there for a lack of better options—though I still want to see Mohamed Sanu punt for an entire game—but most of his punts went short, and there was a concern heading into Week 3 that this was an issue that wasn’t just going to magically go away.

Those fears appear to still be there, as the Falcons have brought punter Matt Wile to the practice squad in case they need him on Sunday against the Colts.

There’s no word on who is getting cut from the practice squad to make way for Wile, so stay tuned for that and the official signing.

Wile boomed two punts for 116 yards way back in 2016, when Bosher last missed game action, and was effective for the Vikings a year ago as he averaged 45.2 yards per punt in 16 games, with one of those punts blocked. He’s a more-than-capable fill-in for Bosher if it comes down to that, though we’re hoping the Big Bosh Man will be ready to go on Sunday.
