Damontae Kazee heads to locker room before halftime

C’mon, no more injuries.

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The injuries just keep piling up for both the Falcons and Eagles tonight. Carson Wentz, DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery are all out of the game for Philadelphia, and the Falcons have now lost Kaleb McGary and Damontae Kazee, with Matt Bosher in the game but ailing.

Kazee is an important piece of the defense as a ballhawking nickel cornerback with the ability to play safety in a pinch. If the Falcons are missing him, they’ll need to lean on Kendall Sheffield or Blidi Wreh-Wilson, likely the latter. Wreh-Wilson is an experienced corner who has played well for Atlanta, but any time without Kazee is still a downgrade for the entire defense.

As is the case with McGary, we’ll hope this is a short-term ailment, and thank our lucky stars the Falcons have managed to assemble some quality depth at the cornerback position to help them weather these exact scenarios.
