Week 2 NFL open thread, pre-Falcons game

Chat your way through the early slate of games before the Falcons play.

NFL: NFC Championship Game-Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The important action from our perspective is happening later tonight, when the Falcons host the Eagles and we see if they’re hanging around in the NFC South or getting off on a very bad foot indeed.

For the afternoon, there are still plenty of intriguing matchups to sink your teeth into if you’re one of the lucky ones who plans to power through an entire day of football. Here’s what to look for, and please use this as your open thread.

Cardinals @ Ravens, 1 p.m. EST

Lamar Jackson just lit the world on fire a week ago, while Kyler Murray showed considerable promise in an attack that features as many receivers on the field at the same time as humanly possible. This ought to be a fun one, even if the Ravens ought to thump Arizona.

Vikings @ Packers, 1 p.m. EST

This one will help us see the rough shape of the NFC North, and determine whether the Vikings are that good or if the Falcons just got unlucky/run over/both.

Saints @ Rams, 4:25 p.m. EST

This is the one to hate watch in the hopes that the Rams can repeat their winning ways against the Saints from the NFC Conference Championship Game earlier this year, dropping the Saints to 1-1 and keeping the division reasonably tight. Go Rams!
