Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones has just broken a franchise record. Previously held by Falcons great Roddy White, Julio Jones now holds the record for receiving yards in a career with 10,868 yards — at the time of posting.
Roddy White was the previous record holder, finishing his career in Atlanta with 10,863 receiving yards in 171 games. Julio Jones entered the Sunday Night Football game against the Philadelphia Eagles with 10,762 career receiving yards, and has officially broken White’s record.
We all know that Julio Jones is a future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, and this momentous occasion certainly should assist his claim. Jones also has another record on the horizon, as he can potentially break Roddy White’s franchise receptions record of 808 catches.
That won’t detract from fans’ perspectives on Roddy and what he means to the team, but Julio is a special player, and this helps to solidify his legacy.
