The Falcons are getting ready to take on the Eagles at home Sunday evening. The Eagles are coming off a Week 1 victory; and the Falcons, well, they aren’t.

The Falcons released an updated depth chart today. And guess what? They named Jamon Brown and Kaleb McGary as starters.

Less than a week ago, Brown was wrapping up an epic camp battle with James Carpenter. Brown didn’t win the right guard job outright, but his contract says a lot about what the team thinks of him going forward. Between Brown and Carpenter, the former is in the team’s plans next season and beyond; the latter probably isn’t. The decision to name Carpenter the starter at right guard threw a lot of people as a result. But quality depth is never a bad thing, and Chris Lindstrom’s unfortunate foot fracture will give Brown an immediate opportunity as the next man up.

McGary had to navigate some health issues over the summer, which put him behind the eight ball with respect to his conditioning. But the team is obviously confident enough in him going forward to name his the starter at right tackle. McGary was thought to be a raw product coming out of college, in need of some seasoning before he could play meaningful snaps. Matt Gono’s bad back opened the door for McGary, and in a perfect world, he’ll never look back.

Aside from the shake up along the offensive front, the depth chart remains unchanged.
