The Falcons got a pretty strong game from Kurt Benkert, and cruelly it may be his last one for a while.
Per Ian Rapoport, Matt Simms is coming back to the Falcons and Benkert could be shelved for a while.
QB Kurt Benkert’s toe injury was described as a major one, I’m told. He looked good in game action, but this injury stings. https://t.co/rkpAAn4PTt

This is hugely disappointing, and I'm hoping it'll only cost him preseason games instead of regular season ones
Benkert tossed a touchdown and displayed a good arm and athleticism against the Broncos, while Matt Schaub had a really rough effort that only drove home how much his arm has declined since his prime.
Simms was solid in summers past and could push Schaub, but unless Benkert gets healthy in the near future, it's probably the cagey veteran's job to lose. Let's hope for the best for Benkert.
