We still don’t know how serious the Kendall Sheffield injury is, but we know Damontae Kazee is day-to-day and the Falcons could use more defensive back depth. That’s why they’ve gone ahead and signed CB Jalen Myrick and cut ties with LB Stephone Anthony.

Myrick was drafted in the 7th round by the Jaguars in 2017, and got in five games and picked up a pass deflection that year. Since then, he’s mostly bounced around, but he’s only 24 years old and and is extremely fast. Maybe he’ll get a practice squad look if he fares well the next two weeks.

Anthony, meanwhile, is running out of chances after flaming out in New Orleans and Miami. Atlanta turned out not to be an ideal landing spot for him with so many young, interesting players vying for spots, but he also could barely get any quality run behind the likes of Yurik Bethune, Del’Shawn Phillips and Jermaine Grace, and thus he’ll be looking for a new home. We wish him well.
