Few plays are as thrilling as the long run. Watching a great back either simply outrun defenders or plow through them is a delight of the highest order, and every time Tevin Coleman or Devonta Freeman got space to work, I was ready to watch them gallop majesticly for, say, 75 yards.
The Falcons have some memorable long runs in their franchise history, as you’d expect, but only one is the longest run in team history. It’s not quite on the order of Derrick Henry’s absurd 99 yard run, or Tony Dorsett’s even more absurd 99 yard run where he rumbled from the one yard line despite not even having his fullback on the field because the guy got confused and ran to the sideline, but it’s still a mighty impressive gallop. You may even remember it, if you dig deep in your memory banks.
So that’s today’s big question: Who has the longest run in franchise history, and how long was it?
