In the long and only occasionally illustrious history of the Atlanta Falcons, there are plenty of statistical quirks. Today’s trivia question concerns one of those.
While trawling through the team’s many years of footballing, I noticed that one player led the team in both rushing and receiving in a single year. That made me wonder how many times it happened, and after scrolling and rolling for a bit, I only found one other (lesser) player who managed it.
So here’s today’s trivia question: Who are the two players who led the Falcons in rushing and receiving in a single season?
One of these players is a franchise great, someone whose name will be instantly recognizable to a significant portion of the fanbase and who could have probably led the team in both categories multiple times if things had shaken out slightly differently. The second is a player who had one truly great year and should have probably had a longer career based on it, but didn’t enjoy a long or particularly tremendous career in Atlanta.
Here’s one final hint: Both players are running backs, which you probably surmised anyways. Good luck with your answers!
