Greetings, Falcoholics, I’m back with another edition of The Falcoholic’s “Fan Spotlight.” This segment highlights Atlanta Falcons fans from around the globe and shares how they became a fan of the team and their thoughts on the franchise.
This week’s Fan Spotlight is on Aidan.
Hi, my name is Aidan. I’m 18 years old and just recently graduated high school. I’m from Dallas, Texas, so I’m right in the heart of Cowboys country. I became a fan because my dad grew up an Atlanta Falcons fan, and when I first got into football, the first game I watched was a Falcons Sunday Night Football game.
I asked Aidan some questions on the state of the franchise and some of his more personal stories as an Atlanta Falcons fan. Let’s get started.
Who is your all-time favorite Atlanta Falcons player?
My favorite Falcons player of all time is a tough, one but it’s Roddy White. I remember watching him in his prime back in 2006-2012 and man it was awesome. He was also the first Falcons jersey I ever owned and I still own it to this day. Although by the time Julio retires he’ll be the WR goat, Roddy will always hold a special place in my heart.
What’s your favorite Atlanta Falcons memory?
My favorite falcons memory should have been us winning the game we never mention, but since it isn’t that, it’s when we demolished the Packers in the 2017 NFC Championship. The joy I felt when we won knowing that for the first time ever, I’m about to watch my team in the biggest game in football. Plus, Falcons twitter that night finally came together as one which is pretty rare. Definitely a night to remember.
What’s your thoughts on the 2019 offseason?
I felt the offseason was a boring one to be honest. Outside of the draft and bringing back Dirk, it felt like a drag. Hopefully we can sign Grady to a long term deal. Dude deserves it.
Who do you think will be the Atlanta Falcons offensive and defensive MVP’s?
The offensive MVP will obviously be Matt Ryan and the defensive MVP will be either Debo or Keanu Neal. Matt Ryan will have another career year and will lead the offense to massive success, like he always has. The defensive MVP though is tough to judge because while Debo is the leader of the defense, if Keanu can take that next step I feel he can be the best player on that side of the ball. He just needs to get some hands that work.
What’s your outlook/prediction for the 2019 season?
If there are no injury concerns like last year, we could easily go 11-5 or better. There’s so much talent on this team especially on the defensive side of the ball. This year will finally be the year we put it together and win it all.
Is there anything you want to say to fellow Atlanta Falcons’ fans?
If y’all wanna hear more from me, just follow me on Twitter at @FirstAidDos. I mainly post Falcons related stuff but I also tweet about other sports as well, like hockey and soccer. And remember to always Rise Up y’all!
