Total curveball

Aside from a trade up for a stud DT or DE, could the Falcons be preparing for another surprise 1st Rd pick? They have done a good job backfilling holes on the OL, DL and somewhat in the secondary. Everyone describes the draft as being deep enough and the Falcons have enough picks to continue that effort in the 2nd and 3rd day of the draft. Couldn’t they be sitting there thinking we can go 100% BPA in round 1, even if it is at a position without an obvious need? I am thinking Metcalf at WR (the possibilities of him learning from Julio and Sanu and being a long term pair with Ridley are enticing), or Hockenson at TE (2 TE sets with him and Hooper provide run blocking support and great offensive weapons). I know the answer is we have more pressing needs, but if one of those guys is seen as a future pro bowler, and we can get one of these at 14, leaving 8 more picks to add to depth and rotation at positions of need, I like the possibility after the free agency activity of late providing at least veteran solutions to most of the holes.
