Greetings, Falcoholics, I’m back with another edition of The Falcoholic’s “Fan Spotlight.” This segment highlights Atlanta Falcons fans from around the globe and shares how they became a fan of the team and their thoughts on the franchise.
This week’s Fan Spotlight is on Vince Augello. Vince is an Atlanta Falcons fan living in Lancaster, Penn., about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia. He’s 27 years old, a father, a food reviewer, and a DJ. His father is a New Orleans Saints fan, so you can imagine how tense it gets in their family. I asked Vince some questions on the state of the franchise and some of his more personal stories as an Atlanta Falcons fan. Let’s get started.

How did you become an Atlanta Falcons fan?
I became an Atlanta Falcons fan about a year or two before Super Bowl XXXIII. I was around six or seven years old at the time, and I was a huge Power Rangers fan. My favorite Power Ranger was White Ranger because he morphed into a Falcon. Me being a kid, I thought it was the coolest thing ever that there was an NFL team nicknamed the Falcons.
Who is your favorite Atlanta Falcons player of all-time?
Some of my favorite Falcons of all time include Jamal Anderson, Mike Vick, and Tony Gonzalez. But I was a huge D-Block fan during the 2012 season. I even bought a Sean Weatherspoon Jersey because of it. “Go ahead and grab ya self a soda out da ice chest.”

What do you think of the Falcons’ offseason moves so far?
So far, this offseason I’ve been mainly pleased with the moves that were made. I’m glad one of the first moves was getting rid of Steve Sarkisian – THANK GOD!! I’ve never seen an offense look more confused than they did under him. Letting go of Robert Alford was the band-aid we were all waiting to get ripped off. Yeah, the Brady pick-six was great, but it went downhill fast after that. I was very disappointed when they let go of “Money” Matt Bryant. That one hurt deep, haha.
What’s your favorite Atlanta Falcons memorabilia?
Some of the best Falcons stuff that I have includes the 1998 NFC Champion hat and t-shirt, Mike Vick “The Run” autographed photo and a personally autographed Matt Ryan jersey. One of my best friends in high school, his parents went to high school with Matt Ryan’s parents. They took my jersey with them on vacation for Matt to sign it.
What’s your favorite Falcons story/memory?
Some of my favorite Falcons memories would be the 1999 and 2017 NFC championship games. Also, the 2012 Divisional game versus the Seattle Seahawks. I was also at the last Mike Vick game as a Falcon, before the dog fighting scandal occurred. Once, I even got to play catch with Ovie Mughelli at Lincoln Financial Field. This past season, I got to meet Matt Bryant at the game in Washington.
