The Atlanta Falcons just got a lot faster at running back and on special teams.

The team has signed former Panthers and Eagles returner Kenjon Barner to a one-year deal, per the mothership.

Barner has been a journeyman through the league, filtering in on various offenses and helping various teams’ kick and return games. He should be viewed as a fun depth piece to the offense who can help with explosive plays and as a core special teamer who can contribute in the return game.

Though, his 2018 stat lines don’t exactly portend to a settled case here. He’s very much quality depth to have around, but don’t be surprised if Atlanta brings in competition for him in the return game. That job should very much still be open.

You might remember Barner from this play. He did not forget Matt Bosher.

It’ll be fun to see how Dirk Koetter decides to use him, and gives the team another piece to its deep skill player pool. We welcome Barner to Atlanta.
