The Falcons will face off against a downtrodden Panthers squad Sunday afternoon. You can’t compare their situation and ours with a straight face, though I’m sure that will be the focal point during the broadcast.
In a perfect world, the Falcons get back to beating up on divisional opponents. For example, back on November 17th, the Falcons destroyed a divisional opponent, winning by an impressive score of 29-3. That 26 point victory was memorable, to say the least. But I can’t remember who they played. Gosh. I’ll have to think that over.
So what are the oddsmakers saying about Sunday’s matchup?
According to Oddshark, the Panthers are the slight underdogs, with the Falcons being tabbed as 3 point favorites. Make sense? Yes. Yes it does. The Falcons have already hit their rock bottom and are trying to find a path forward. The Panthers, on the other hand, are still searching out their rock bottom. They have lost 4 straight games and their head coach was just relieved of his ... responsibilities. That’s a rough 30 days.
If you’re not obsessed with draft position, and you’re hoping for a Falcons win, then it’s worth noting that the Panthers are 1-7 against the spread in their last 8 games against the Falcons.
