You will find something to root for in this game. You’ll root for a win to complete a fine second half of the season, because it will mean Qadree Ollison’s feasting on Tampa Bay at the goal line again, or because you supported Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff coming back and want to show it was the right decision. Or you’ll root for a loss for draft position or because you believe bringing Quinn and Dimitroff back was a very silly decision that should be punished immediately by a road implosion against the Bucs. Either way, you’ll find something.
That’s good, because this is another year with another pretty meaningless Week 17. Atlanta’s not jockeying for playoff seeding or anything like that, so just hoping for a competitive, fun game is probably more than enough. But grab your item of interest and hold on tight as we move closer to the offseason, when the Falcons will do all the things they need to do to hopefully be much more competitive in 2020.
Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 17
When: Sunday, December 29, 1 p.m. EST
Where: Raymond James Stadium
Announcers: Tim Brando, Matt Millen, Sarah Walsh
Radio: 92.9 The Game
Key Questions: Can the Falcons put the brakes on Jameis Winston, who plays like an MVP-caliber quarterback against them? Will the offensive line hold up against a tough Buccaneers pass rush? Can Julio Jones score a touchdown and get into second place all-time on the team’s receiving TDs list? Will the Falcons win or lose, and what happens to Dan Quinn?
Prediction: Falcons lose, 31-24
