The Chase for Chase

What would it take for Atlanta to turn this nightmare of a season into the best edge rusher in the 2020 draft? First, let's assume Atlanta loses out. They could just as easily go 3-1 as 0-4, but let's just assume (hope?) they lose the rest of their games. Who stands in their way?

If they finish 3-13, the following teams stand in their way: CIN, NYG, WAS, MIA. Cincinnati and Miami are likely looking at QBs, but MIA has two more first round picks, so they could move back up and grab a QB around 10th in the draft. The Giants would run to the podium to get Young, I think. Here are the teams' schedules:

CIN
@CLE; NE; @MIA; CLE

Cleveland is a mess right now, but it's unlikely CIN sweeps them. If they did, their SoS is actually stronger than the Falcons and we would pick ahead of them. MIA is winnable, obviously. But ideally, they sweep CLE and lose to MIA.

NYG
@PHI; MIA; @WAS; PHI

Philly is also a bit of a mess, but the Giants are pretty woeful. If MIA is looking for a QB, better that NY beats them. If the records are equal, the Giants SoS is putrid, so they pick first.

WAS
@GB; PHI; NYG; @ DAL

Maybe they can beat the Giants, but there just aren't many winnable games left for them.

MIA
@NYJ; @NYG; CIN; @NE

Miami could very well go 3-1 down the stretch, but if Atlanta loses out, they only need to win one game to drop behind us in the draft. Ideally, they beat the Jets and management benches Fitzmagic and that allows the Giants and Bengals to rack up some wins.

Short story: start rooting for the Giants.
