The Falcons defense held the Kyle Shanahan led 49ers offense to 22 points on their own field. This was a week after they nearly dropped 50 on the Saints defense in New Orleans. This was an impressive performance and several guys stood out. Let’s take a look below.
Blidi Wreh-Wilson
With Desmond Trufant out, Wilson had to step in. He ended up with 3 pass breakups on the day and was easily the most impressive defensive player on the field. Those pass defenses ended up being critical ones, with one preventing a touchdown and another shutting down a drive. As a veteran option, Wilson has proven to be a solid player for the Falcons.
Grady Jarrett
Jarrett was absolutely robbed of a sack when the refs flagged him with an egregiously stupid roughing the passer penalty. He ended up with a 6 yard tackle for loss on the same drive and his impact on the pocket was felt most of the day. You know, normal Grady Jarrett stuff.
Vic Beasley
Don’t look now, but Vic now has 7.5 sacks on the season and he’s looked better than ever the last several games. He may not stay in Atlanta, but there’s a chance another team signs him and finds a way to use his incredible physical talents elsewhere.
Jimmy Garoppolo
The opposing QB was up and down all day and arguably helped the Falcons defense out a few times. Thanks, Jimmy!
