NFL: Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Football is back for the Falcons, with a road game against the Saints on tap for this weekend. With that, let’s dive into the day’s storylines with Thursday’s Falcoholinks.

Saints on deck for Week 10

We’re right in the middle of Saints Hate Week, with the two NFC South foes set to meet for the first time this season on Sunday in New Orleans.

The Falcons are nearly two touchdown underdogs on the road, which seems charitable given the tough task of taking on the Saints, who are 7-1 and one of the top teams in the NFC. The Falcons and Saints respective seasons have gone in polar opposite directions, with the former angling for a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, and the latter looking like a deep playoff contender. Wow that hurts to type.

With Atlanta’s terrible season and underperforming positional groups, it’s safe to say that a number of Saints players would look mighty fine in red and black.

Sinking in the rankings

As unsurprising as Atlanta’s underdog status against the Saints is the fact that they’ve plummeted in the latest NFL power rankings. NFL.com has the Falcons slotted in at 28th, so they’re not the worst team in the league according to these rankings, but they’re close — and a substantive argument could be made that they should be lower.

The Falcoholic Live Ep. 91

It’s officially draft time far too early, but such is the way the season has gone. Kevin & Evan are back with another episode of The Falcoholic Live where they took an early look at 2020 draft needs for the Falcons. If you happened to miss last night’s live broadcast, slack a bit at work and watch the full episode here.
