The Falcons did not play good football this afternoon. That’s a fact. At 3-8 and with only 5 games to play, they are playing for pride at this point. We could debate the merits of such a thing ad nauseum, but I’m sure the players are still determined to finish strong.
There were injuries. Let’s break ‘em down.
Calvin Ridley was a little shaken up during the second half. He left for only one play before returning to the game, which was a huge relief. He’d go on to score during the 4th quarter, for what that’s worth.
Julio Jones sustained a shoulder injury during the first half and later exited the game during the second half, earning a “questionable” designation. Why the Falcons allowed him to go back on the field in an attempt to play through the injury is beyond me. He was noticeably absent from the sideline after he left the game the second time, suggesting it’s an injury that at least has the potential to be on the more serious side.
I’ll be shocked if Julio is ready to play by Thursday, particularly given the fact that he was still receiving treatment after the game.
And that’s it for injuries. We’ll see how Matt Ryan’s ankle, Desmond Trufant’s toe, and Takk McKinley’s shoulder rebound during a short week.
Discuss!
