We waited all season for Takkarist McKinley to finally have a monster game. He had been close, frequently near the top of the league in pressures but with a disappointing 0.5 sack across 9 games.
Things have improved dramatically since Dan Quinn gave up play calling duties which has surprisingly made every defender look much better. That includes McKinley, who broke out against the Carolina Panthers in Sunday’s 29-3 win. McKinley got his first full sack, and nearly had others.
Also notable is he was taken out of the game after that first sack. McKinley got to Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen, and while taking him to the ground, was hog-piled by Panthers tackle Daryl Williams. Per his Twitter account, McKinley was unhappy with Williams after the injury.
Why that fat Mf fall on me bruh ♀️ literally no reason

The QB rather throw interceptions with his eyes closed instead of me having a sack. ANOTHER #almostsack pic.twitter.com/sva0SWG62m

McKinley criticizes Williams for the flop. I wanted to take issue with McKinley taking a jab at his weight, but Williams is 330 pounds, second on the roster only to former Falcons defensive tackle Dontari Poe.
After all the tweets about getting almost sacks, McKinley is finally able to talk a little trash. While he will definitely play against better linemen than Williams, he looks like he got his swagger back. If anything, McKinley knows he has to keep up his play so he can keep his Twitter account lively. McKinley is now only 8.5 sacks away from double digit sacks, which he will need if he does not want to cut off his hair.
