Falcoholinks are a top-shelf way to start the week, so as always, here they are bright and early.
Falcons - Panthers recap
The Falcons entered this game fairly banged up, with a couple of marquee absences in Devonta Freeman and Austin Hooper, and with the immediate question looming: Could Atlanta build on its win against New Orleans? They answered that question with a resounding yes.
The Falcons surgically dismantled the Panthers on the road, earning a 29-3 victory and pushing their 2019 record to 3-7, and the all-time series history against Carolina to 31-18. Matt Ryan had a swell afternoon, going 21/31 for 311 yards and a touchdown, and moving into 10th on the all-time passing yards list.
The defense told the tale, however, with nine forced turnovers — five sacks and four interceptions. Absolutely nuts.
Takkarist McKinley recorded his first sack on the season, but also picked up a shoulder injury in the process. He would return to the field in the second half. Adrian Clayborn would also leave the game due to a groin injury.
DQ’s future
Dan Quinn may have bought himself some more time as Atlanta’s head coach with the team’s win at New Orleans last week and yesterday’s stomping in Carolina, but his future with the Falcons is still very much in jeopardy. The Falcoholic staff provided their take on whether or not Dan Quinn should remain with the team beyond 2019.
