The NFL has announced that voting for the 2020 Pro Bowl is now open.
Although the popular thing to say is that the Pro Bowl is pointless, the accolade is something which does boost the popularity of individual players and still comes up in Hall of Fame discussions for the best of the best. Last year Julio Jones and Alex Mack were selected, while Jake Matthews and Austin Hooper were later added as players dropped out.
I recommend voting for every Falcons player that you can, but below is a couple who have earned a selection.
TE Austin Hooper
Even though he’s currently injured, up to this point Austin Hooper has arguably been the best tight end in the NFL this season. Among tight ends, Hooper currently ranks:
· First Down Receptions – 2nd (32)
· Yards After Catch – 3rd (253)
· Receiving Touchdowns – 1st (6)
· Receptions – tied 1st (56)
· Catch Rate -- 1st (86.2)
Even though the team has overall had a down season, Austin Hooper has clearly earned recognition for the season he’s having. He’s likely to get it.
DT Grady Jarrett
Another player who deserves to be recognized with a Pro Bowl invitation is defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. He’s easily the team’s best defensive lineman and is tied for the most sacks among interior defensive lineman in the league with 6, 2.5 of which he just picked up against the Saints. If the rest of the defense plays better, he’ll have a great second half.
WR Julio Jones
I can sit here and break down why Julio Jones needs to be selected to the Pro Bowl, but I think it speaks for itself.
The 2020 Pro Bowl will be played on January 26, 2020 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida and be it will be televised nationally by ESPN. The AFC and NFC rosters will be released in December. To cast your ballot click here.
