Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Tuesday, Nov. 12

Fact: Matt Ryan has never eaten a bagel

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The Falcons showed up on Sunday. To be sure, at 2-7, this ship isn’t in safe waters. The situation is still quite bleak, especially if we’re talking about a wholesale regime change. But for a day, just for a day, we could talk a little smack. And that’s fun.

Links, you make my heart sing. You make everything groovy, links.

What a win

Sunday was a good day. It was like Christmas on Twitter. Don’t believe me? Then check out our tweet recap — I promise you won’t be disappointed. Along those same lines, this week’s podcast was all kinds of fun. Look, folks, miracles happen, and that win was a dang miracle. It’s as simple as that.

Everyone shows up

Much of the defense’s success came from individual efforts along the defensive line. The Falcons pass rush proved it does exist, so that’s neat. There was an unlikely fantasy stud this week, and he’s a kicker not named Matt Bryant. Koo showed the masses what he was about in New Orleans, converting 4 of 4 field goal attempts, including a career-long 48 yarder.

David Walker brought us this week’s editions of “best offensive player” and “best defensive player.” I broke down some of the best and worst individual performances from the big win.

Going forward

We got injury updates on Devonta Freeman and Austin Hooper. Luckily neither injury appears too serious; Free suffered a foot sprain and Hooper had an MCL sprain.

Head coach Dan Quinn’s willingness to get some help and relinquish play calling responsibilities paid huge dividends. He’d better keep it up if he’s interested in keeping his job.
