Hey Falcoholics! Our beloved Atlanta Falcons fell to the Houston Texans 32-53 on Sunday, crushing what little optimism remained following the prior weeks. Many of you chimed in during the game, so let’s review what the fans had to say on Twitter.
The Falcons received the ball to start the game.
That opening kickoff put me in the right frame of mind

Atlanta struck first, by way of a 14-yard touchdown reception by Mohamed Sanu. The Falcons had a 7-0 lead.
SANUUUUUUUU TD
— Kevin Knight (@FalcoholicKevin) October 6, 2019
The Falcons didn’t enjoy the lead for long, as the Texans fired back with a Will Fuller-Deshaun Watson 6-yard touchdown. Get used to reading these two names..
Texans counter right back with a touchdown drive of their own. #Falcons defense is.... not playing ideally.
— Kelly Price (@thekellyprice) October 6, 2019
So the Titans receivers had 0 TD’s until they played the falcons. The Texans has 0 first quarter TD’s...until they play the falcons. So embarrassing.

The Falcons were able to get into field goal range, and Matt Bryant knocked down a 35-yard attempt.
Of course it’s good pic.twitter.com/K97zTcqqhz

Remember when I said to get used to seeing Fuller and Watson? Well, they connected on a 33-yard touchdown to take the 10-13 lead, thanks to a missed PAT.
#Falcons had four guys watching DeAndre Hopkins on that touchdown pass. Ricardo Allen reacted to Will Fuller coming across too late to break up the pass.

Dan Quinn will need to think long and hard about firing his defensive coordinator after this game.
— Falcoholic Matt (@FalcoholicMatt) October 6, 2019
Idk how this team can justify not adjusting this zone defense seeing as how it’s definitely not working
— Jeañña (@jeannathomas) October 6, 2019
The Texans would again score, kicking a field goal to extend their lead to 10-16 with 4:07 remaining in the first half. The Falcons put together a nice drive, topping the first half off with a Devonta Freeman 9-yard touchdown reception.
That is a nice play design by Atlanta. Finally. Can ya give me some of that the rest of the way for god sakes? #AtlantaFalcons #ATLvsHOU

Halftime hit, and the Falcons entered it with a 17-16 lead. Surely they would hold onto it, right? (Nope)
#Texans 23 #Falcons 17 after 1-yard TD run by Hyde. Drive went 7 plays, 75 yards and took 3:09 off the clock.

Falcons are keeping Dan Quinn so they can tank and have a top 5 pick at the end of the year. pic.twitter.com/rRMMiSbDzs

Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn made another field goal, increasing the Texans lead to 26-17. However, the Texans would stop the Falcons, getting the ball back and easily scoring with a Watson to Fells 8-yard reception — extending the lead to 17-33.
That makes three straight games that the Falcons have fallen into double-digit deficits.

The Falcons would finally score in the second half, coming in the 4th quarter by way of a Matt Ryan goal line sneak. The Falcons went for two on the PAT, and Ryan connected with Austin Hooper to bring the Texans lead to 25-33.

For a moment, it seemed like the Falcons were back in it. Unfortunately, the Falcons’ defense wasn’t up to making key stops, and the Texans scored again furthering their lead to 25-40.
The Falcons just aren’t a very good football team this year.

158.3 is both the temperature of Dan Quinn’s seat right now and Deshaun Watson’s quarterback rating today
— Falcoholic James (@falcoholicjames) October 6, 2019
With 3:31 left in the game, the often neglected Calvin Ridley caught a 29-yard pass, maintaining possession in bounds and narrowing the Texans lead to 32-40.
This guy only had 1 target against the Colts. pic.twitter.com/yPR2mPSkb2
— Evan Birchfield (@EvanBirchfield) October 6, 2019
With 2 minutes remaining, and the Falcons only down 8 points, there was a glimpse of hope that the Falcons would tie it up. Well, that was quickly shattered when Watson and Fuller connected on a 44-yard touchdown, Fuller’s third touchdown of the day.
No matter what the offense does, the defense will cancel it out..
— Josh (@onlyonejj22) October 6, 2019
Finally, the suffering is over right? NOPE! With less than a minute left in the game, Matt Ryan and Austin Hooper failed to connect, resulting in a pick-six touchdown by Texan’s safety Tashaun Gipson.
@TheFalcoholic @EvanBirchfield can this get any worse?
— Zydeco (@Zydecobham) October 6, 2019
Lmfao well it apparently can get worse
— Jeañña (@jeannathomas) October 6, 2019
The Falcons would get the ball back and kneel to finish the game, with a final loss of 32-53.
The Falcons poured every resource they could into improving this team. Injury struck, as it does, but it's time for a new vision. It's never fun to move on but we know you'll all be with us. Thanks for that
— The Badfootballoholic (@TheFalcoholic) October 6, 2019
Nobody likes to see their team lose, especially one as talented as we are. The Falcons are now 1-4 and haven’t even played a divisional opponent yet. Regardless of what happens, thanks for riding with us Falcoholics and checking out all of our content.
