Matt Bosher’s reoccurring groin injury will keep him from punting for the near future. The punter suffered the injury warming up against the Philadelphia Eagles, then did not play against the Indianapolis Colts. He played last week but his punts were atrocious.
We knew something was problematic with Bosher’s health as the Falcons brought back Matt Wile on Saturday.
We have placed P Matt Bosher on injured reserve. https://t.co/sQiWzrYnzP

This may end Bosher’s season. The Falcons could elect to bring back Bosher after 8 games, meaning his best case scenario would be to return December 8th against the Carolina Panthers. Bosher is in the last year of his contract. Considering his age (32 next year), decreasing leg strength, and the team’s tightening cap space, we may have seen the last of number 5 in Atlanta.
Wile, Bosher’s replacement, punted only once against the Indianapolis Colts for an underwhelming 39 yards. It’s unclear if he will be the team’s punter for more than Sunday, the rest of 2019, or into 2020.
