Calvin Ridley left Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks after he appeared to lose consciousness after a tough fall. He laid out to catch a deep pass along the right sideline, took an absolutely brutal shoulder to shoulder hit, then slammed his helmet onto the turf. Somehow, Ridley was cleared to return to the game.
The play happened right in front of cameras, and it was pretty evident that Ridley lost consciousness for about 10 seconds. It seemed a sure thing that he would enter the league’s concussion protocol. If Ridley did indeed suffer a concussion, he’d have extra time to recover as the Falcons are entering their bye week.
Ridley was expected to have a bigger role after Mohamed Sanu was traded earlier in the week. His numbers are still disappointing. He has only 29 receptions for 373 yards and 4 touchdowns, and has disappeared for multiple games this season. Dirk Koetter has previously said the offense needs to do a better job of finding targets for Ridley.
