Dan Quinn’s head coaching career may end at the hands of the team that got him the job in the first place.

There’s certainly something to be said for the circular nature of life in the NFL. Dan Quinn is now coaching for his coaching life against the Seattle Seahawks, where he ran the league’s top defense for a couple of years in a row and got hired by this Falcons team, where his defensive reputation is unraveling in front of our eyes.

Make no mistake: Dan Quinn is not making it through this season with a job here in Atlanta, but the question still remains whether Arthur Blank will give him the usual full season before firing him, or if he will decide that things are so bad that an interim option is warranted. I don’t have a great feel for what the owner is going to do here, but an ugly loss to Seattle and a 1-7 record heading into the bye certainly feels like it might spur some action. A win, meanwhile, would likely delay the inevitable and give DQ a chance to spend the second half of the season to try to right the ship, or at least put some positive things on tape for the coaches and players who will be moving on.

Here’s what you need to know about the game ahead.

Atlanta Falcons vs. Seattle Seahawks, Week 8

When: Sunday, October 27, 1 p.m. EST

Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia

Channel: FOX

Announcers: Sam Rosen, Ronde Barber, Sara Walsh

Streaming: FOXSportsGo

Radio: 92.9 The Game

Key Questions: Can the Falcons get after Russell Wilson to avoid becoming the only team in NFL history with no sacks in five straight games? Will Matt Ryan suit up, and if so, will he be effective? Can the Falcons get at least one unexpected win this year before the turnover hammer comes down?

Prediction: Falcons lose, 35-21
