Falcoholinks: All the Falcons news you need for Wednesday, Oct.23

Fact: Matt Ryan’s pencils sharpen themselves

NFL: OCT 20 Rams at Falcons

Life won’t get any easier for the 1-6 Falcons in the weeks ahead. They are underdogs this weekend, and assuming they can’t get a win, there’s a good chance they’re forced to navigate wholesale coaching changes during the bye week. Put simply, it’s entirely possible that we still haven’t hit rock bottom.

So what’s a Falcons fan to do during these depressing times? Well, start with these links. They go great with a variety of dipping sauces!

That loss though

Curious how the Falcoholic staff took Sunday’s loss? Then check out our reactions. Still trying to sort out your feelings about Sunday’s loss? Then don’t miss this week’s edition of “hat tips and head scratchers.”

This week’s snap counts tell an interesting story. Notwithstanding everything else they did wrong on the Sunday, the Falcons made good use of their defensive depth. Speaking of defensive depth, Adnan Ikic got a chance to chat with linebacker Foye Oluokun after Sunday’s game.

Julio Jones apparently delivered a passionate defense of embattled head coach Dan Quinn.

Mohamed Sanu to the Patriots

The Falcons traded Mohamed Sanu to the Patriots for a second round draft pick yesterday. The return exceeds expectations and we certainly wish Mo well, but what does the trade mean for the team going forward? David Walker and the Falcoholic himself, Dave Choate, broke down the trade in a special bonus podcast.

Roster moves

The Falcons would really like to get rid of Vic Beasley. That’s probably not going to happen, given his low market value.

At this point, the Falcons have to be open to all roster possibilities. That’s why they worked out Shane Ray and Nate Orchard yesterday.
