It’s an interesting time to be a Falcons fan. On the one hand, there’s a lot of chatter about the future of the franchise. But on the other hand, there’s still a lot of football to be played in 2019. It may be a long march, but we’ll get you there.

So let’s look ahead to the Week 5 matchup against the 2-2 Texans, because let’s be honest, we have nothing better to do.

According to Draftkings Sportsbook, the Texans are currently favored by 5 points after opening as 4.5 point favorites. Bettors aren’t dropping much money on the Texans, however, which means the Falcons are perceived as a team that could break out of their funk at any time. At 2-2, the Texans have only actually won one more game than the Falcons this season, but they haven’t looked nearly as inept as the Falcons, and obviously that counts for something.

The Texans were 5.5 point favorites against the Panthers last weekend, and we all know how that worked out. (The Panthers won, 16-10.) Meanwhile the Falcons are 1-4 against the spread over their last 5 games. What’s more, they’re 1-6 against the spread over their last 7 road games and 0-13 against the spread over their last 13 games against AFC opponents.

The Texans are favored because they are the better football team right now. It’s that simple. Your thoughts, Falcoholics?
