The Atlanta Falcons signed defensive tackle Michael Bennett to a reserve/futures contract, which means that the team has full claiming rights to him next season.
Bennett played in two games for the Atlanta Falcons this year, and totaled five tackles along with one sack. He was added to bolster the defensive line’s depth a bit, with Grady Jarrett missing two games due to injury, before Bennett was waived on October 30.
Bennett had a solid 62.4 PFF grade in his very limited sample size with the Falcons, with a pretty good 69.8 tackling grade contributing to that mark.
Bennett will have the opportunity to fight for his spot at training camp and throughout the preseason. One would think that he may be called upon for depth purposes once again if there are defensive line injuries suffered by the unit next season.
He won’t count against the cap or the roster number until the next 90-man roster is announced, sometime around training camp.
