The Atlanta Falcons are veering toward completing their new coaching hires, and we’ve got another big hire to link you into with today’s Falcoholinks.
You knew about Dirk Koetter and Mike Mularkey returning to Atlanta, but here’s a Dan Quinn-specialized reunion to read up on.
Kotwica hired to coach special teams
The Falcons needed a new special teams coordinator after parting ways with Keith Armstrong, and they’ve now found their new coach.
Former Washington and New York Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica will lead the charge to get Atlanta going with punts, kicks and the like.
His Washington special teams were quite sound last season, as you’ll read in the story. It’s an intriguing hire that gives you confidence the special teams can be more well-rounded next season.
Running Backs Rear-View
As The Falcoholic continues its positional reviews, why don’t you run on over to check out our Carter Breazeale’s assessment of the running back roster as it stood in 2018.
Our head honcho Dave Choate broke down what the group might look like going forward, and if there are any names out there that might make sense as additions.
Koetter Talk
As you know by now, Dirk Koetter is back to call the plays on offense.
Dave talked about his view on the hire, what it says about the team and what it means going ahead.
It’s a great read if you’re still trying to determine where you are with everything. Maybe it’ll help you find some clarity on the subject (as much as one can in January, that is).
Tampa Bay Kangols
The Buccaneers decided to hire a great coach for its vacancy, which makes us a bit nervous here at Falcoholic HQ.
There are no guarantees for how former Cardinals coach Bruce Arians will do, but his history suggests he’ll at least make the Bucs competitive.
The Falcons can’t afford to overlook their Florida-based rivals next season, not with that Arians coaching staff.
Well, those are the links to sink your teeth into on this January Thursday.
We’ll see if there are any additional coaching moves made in the time ahead, so keep in touch with us throughout your day for anything Falcons-related.
