After Keanu Neal tore his ACL this Thursday night, who are some guys the Falcons could look to replace him? We looked a list of players both inside and outside the building.
Damontae Kazee, FS, Atlanta Falcons
Our own guy here. After Keanu left yesterday’s game, Rico slid in at SS and Kazee has proved that he can start at FS if needed. However, it’s not always a good idea to move the QB of the defense over to the other side of the field. This could save money and benefit Grady’s future contract extension, however.
Eric Reid, S, Free Agent
Yes, Reid has a history of injuries, but, he is excellent in coverage. He would ultimately fill in at SS and is the best safety available. By doing this, the Falcons would be putting all the protests on the back burner and bringing in arguably the BPA.
Mark Barron, LB/S, LA Rams (VIA Trade)
Barron is such a hard hitter, it isn’t fair. He has experience in the secondary and seems like a good fit in Atlanta. If that hard hitting factor for Keanu is essential to DQ, he could bring in a guy like Barron, even though Barron is not the same caliber of player.
Clayton Fejedelem, S, Cincinnati Bengals
We could get Fejedelem for essentially nothing. He means nothing to Cincy other than his special teams ability. However, his physique is almost exactly the same as Keanu and can play. He was intriguing in Illinois at college and is very athletic. While we’re throwing out ideas, I’d welcome the chance to give an interesting player a new start in Atlanta.
Who would you like to see the Falcons sign?
