Falcons-Saints post-game injury report: Ricardo Allen knocked out the game with “calf injury”

Fact: Ricardo Allen brews his own kombucha

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Falcons played their butts off today. Sadly the defense gave up too many points and the end result was highly disappointing. There’s a lot to digest after a loss like that. We’ll take a look at what went wrong in the days ahead.

Rookie Russell Gage hurt his knee during the first half. Gage was getting some snaps with the offense today, for what that’s worth. Justin Bethel also suffered a knee injury on special teams.

Foye Oluokun injured his ankle during the second half. He earned a questionable designation. Foye was playing some solid football when he got hurt.

Ricardo Allen injured his calf late in the fourth quarter. He was carted off the field as the Falcons fanbase looked on in horror. Early reports about his status aren’t super encouraging. Dan Quinn called the injury “serious enough.” This has many wondering whether this was an achilles injury, which would be a true worst case scenario for the Falcons. (If he tore his achilles, he will need season-ending surgery.) Best case scenario, it’s a bad calf strain and the Falcons figure out how to play without him for a couple of weeks. But if his immediate reaction on the field and while he was being carted off are any indication, this was more serious than that.
