The Falcons surprisingly kept Richard Jarvis on their active roster heading into the year, but predictably that didn’t last very long with injuries and necessary roster moves cropping up. That doesn’t mean Jarvis went anywhere, though, as the team kept him on the practice squad and now will call him back up to the active roster.
With the team a little thin and shaky at linebacker at the moment, the team has elected to reach an injury settlement with Corey Nelson and bring Jarvis back to the active roster. Nelson had a short stint with Atlanta as a special teamer, and that’s the role Jarvis is most likely to fill in the immediate future.

The team clearly likes Jarvis, however, as he showed some good instincts as a pass rusher and against the run in preseason despite some miscues. The team isn’t getting Deion Jones back for a while and is leaning very heavily on Duke Riley, De’Vondre Campbell and Foye Oluokun at linebacker, so Jarvis could actually work his way into a small role in the coming weeks. He should get plenty of snaps on teams in the meantime.
Welcome Jarvis back and wish Nelson well.
